Going to hell in a hand basket

There was once a standard of behavior for adults. One might stray occasionally, but most adhered to what was considered “adult behavior”. Political figures, ministers, police officers, educators, etc, were generally held to a higher standard. There have always been the wing-nut, degenerates, provocateurs, entertainers, who provided the contrast in society. There was a clear distinction.

Now the normal people want to get attention like the deviants. Now they dress in drag, get all tattooed up, get all pierced up, and say and do outlandish things on social media. Will decency return? Not if the deviants have their way.

    The definitive answer for reparations.

“Well I think you’re right about reparations in terms of – if people want it though, what they need to do is, you always need to go back to the beginning of the supply chain. Where was the beginning of the supply chain?” she asked.

“That was in Africa,” she continued. “Across the entire world, when slavery was taking place, which was the first nation in the world that abolished slavery?” It was “the British,” Fordwich declared, adding, “In Great Britain they abolished slavery. 2,000 naval men died on the high seas trying to stop slavery. Why? Because the African kings were rounding up their own people. They had them [in] cages, waiting in the beaches.”

She concluded, “I think you’re totally right. If reparations need to be paid, we need to go right back to the beginning of that supply chain and say, ‘Who was rounding up their own people and having them handcuffed in cages. Absolutely, that’s where they should start.”

Where your rights and mine begin……………….and end!

Variations on a common conception of individual rights!

    • The right to swing my fist ends where the other man’s nose begins.
    • The right to swing my arms in any direction ends where your nose begins.
    • My right to swing my fist ends where your nose begins.

Each side takes the position of the man who was arrested for swinging his arms and hitting another in the nose, and asked the judge if he did not have a right to swing his arms in a free country. “Your right to swing your arms ends just where the other man’s nose begins.”

Interestingly, the genesis of this adage can be traced back more than thirty-five additional years. Several variants of the expression were employed by a set of lecturers who were aligned with the temperance movement which favored restrictions on the sale and consumption of alcohol in the United States. The earliest instance located by QI appeared in a collection of speeches that were delivered by John B. Finch who was the Chairman of the Prohibition National Committee for several years in the 1880s and died in 1887.

The saying Finch used was somewhat longer and clumsier than later versions of the aphorism. But the central idea was the same, and Finch received credit from some of his colleagues. It is common for expressions to be shortened and polished as they pass from one speaker to another over a period of years. Here is the relevant excerpt from an oration Finch gave in Iowa City in 1882.

This arm is my arm (and my wife’s), it is not yours. Up here I have a right to strike out with it as I please. I go over there with these gentlemen and swing my arm and exercise the natural right which you have granted; I hit one man on the nose, another under the ear, and as I go down the stairs on my head, I cry out:

“Is not this a free country?”

    “Yes, sir.”

“Have not I a right to swing my arm?”

“Yes, but your right to swing your arm leaves off where my right not to have my nose struck begins.”

Here civil government comes in to prevent bloodshed, adjust rights, and settle disputes.

    Don’t Over-estimate Russia

It’s worth mentioning, that although the Russian (and former Soviet) army is large, is has never been, what one would call, a great army. Yes, they are ruthless and brutal, but the army is mostly made up of conscripts with very low morale.

Their history of losses outweigh their victories, and most of the losses are to smaller countries. Chechnya, Poland, Japan, Crimean War, and Sweden and Finland fought Russia to a standstill. And then Afghanistan, everyone’s loser. WWII, Russia would be Germany now except for Allied troops on the western front. Of course, the west might also be Germany without the Russian on the east.

Point being, the Russian offensive shouldn’t be surprising and is not a foregone conclusion of victory. But Putin is a brutal KGB bastard who will certainly not spare a life to get what he wants.

    Politicians Push for More Crime

As important as law enforcement officers are, the survival of a society, be it city, state, or nation, is a dedication to the concept of law and order by its citizens. Most people these blue cities and state believe in it. But the message from the local governments is that THEY don’t believe in law and order. They celebrate riots, ignore crime, and defund those hired to enforce the law. So now you have a criminal element that gets the message loud and clear.

    Crime is ok.

Sh*t or Go Blind – A Republican Dilemma

To coin an old expression, Republicans don’t know whether to sh*t or go blind.

    • They want to be the good guys.
    • They want the high moral ground.
    • They want to appear fair and balanced
    • They want to appear somewhat conservative.

Unfortunately, the people trying to turn the U.S. into a socialist state are street fighters, with no morals, and fairness is an anathema to them. Socialist have to win.

Republicans would have never pulled down the Berlin wall as President Reagan did. Never ushered in the end of the USSR like Reagan did. They don’t have the stomach for it. They will take the victory as long as they don’t have to get their hands dirty.

Along comes non-politician Donald Trump who turns their world upside down. He’s of the same mold as Reagan. A brawler, foul mouthed, no fair and balanced. He wins, but he’s too much for the establishment Republicans to take. He needs to go and not come back. Hence the support for this round of impeachment. Being in Congress is not such a bad life as the losing party. They can live with that. That’s why Socialist win.

My hats off to the fine bunch of Conservatives in Congress who are left to pick up the pieces and go for a win the the future. Emulate Reagan and Trump, not Romney and McCain.

How the Specter of Communism is Ruling our World

    Categories: Points of View

“Individuals with little knowledge and poor critical thinking abilities are unable to recognize lies and deception. Education plays an enormous role. Thus, when communist elements penetrate all levels of the education system, students become foolish and ignorant and thus vulnerable to manipulation.”

Always lead a jackass. This is key. A jackass cannot be pushed from the rear. If you try this, you’ll be shit on.
